Peter Forsberg says if he plays this season, it will be in Sweden this year.
Read about in an AP story via Sports Illustrated.
Sportbladet in Sweden has a story too and here is a google translation.

STAY IN SWEDEN...I am sick of the Brett Favre of hockey.
“Will I? Won’t I? Can I? Should I?” Just shut up and go away, Floppa.

Why all this anger about Forsberg wanting to play hockey again? He obviously loves the game enough to keep trying. He now signed with his hometown team Modo where (different from the NHL) he won’t get paid if he doesn’t play. Many times has he pointed out that he’s been ashamed of the last few seasons where injuries have kept him from reaching his full potential. Now, he claims, the foot feels better than in a long long time. Instead of milking more money from an NHL contract (which I’m sure he could have done had that been his agenda) he decided to play for virtually nothing in Sweden, just so he can play and test his foot without the pressure from short-minded franchise fans (what the hell is a franchise anyway, what a joke. It’s a business and not a club built on traditions and the love from grassroot fans. Take a look at Europe, that’s where you find the real love. I wish the US could have understood that a long time ago instead of turning sports into a profit machine). Anyways, I say keep going Forsberg. You are extremely misunderstood in the US. Unfortunately, people can’t relate to your love of the game. Well let them buy their hot dogs and get the jersey with the latest star name on the back.

Hooray! It’s over! At least for one more year.
Seriously, I wish he would concentrate on being healthy enough to live a regular life instead of putting himself through all this in order to try playing hockey again. It can’t be any fun at all - and if a game isn’t fun, then what’s the point of even playing?
