No Shakeup Yet In San Jose

from Mark Emmons of the Mercury News,
Marleau, who has been a lightning rod for criticism, said he and Wilson have talked about if he should remain the team’s captain.
“We’ve discussed some things and I’m waiting to see how that unfolds,” he said. “But I’ve told Doug that I’m willing to do whatever it takes to get this team to the next level.”
Both Nabokov and Marleau said they have not been asked by Wilson to drop the no-trade clauses in their contracts. But Nabokov said he would if the G.M. requested it.
“If the organization wants me to leave, I will leave,” Nabokov said. “I would never stay with an organization that didn’t want me.”

An idiot for turning down the Chimera deal? take a look at the first 22-23 games of the season for San Jose, now pair Ehrhoff with Boyle over an 82 game season. Why would you want to trade that for a third line grinder, albeit one with wheels and one that can occasionally get pummled by Rivet?
San Jose has drafted and developed a lot of offensive defenseman over the years, and Ehrhoff is at or near the top of the bunch. And as a GM, you are loathe to move a player you developed who could be poised for a breakout season.
Ehrhoff and Michalek are two potential trade options because of salary and depth up front and on defense. Cheechoo is a much more likely scenario. Name recognition, 20-30 goal potential, power play sniper. Teams are going to low ball Wilson early, but if I am an opposing GM and I think his health and/or skating can be improved for the upcoming season, I pull the trigger.

Lindas1st, sometimes the Mercury News is tricky. I just tested and it worked for me. Maybe you can just go to the site on your own, then go to sport then Sharks.

Thanx Paul.

Wilson is an idiot of turning down the Chimera deal. And then goes on to call San Jose inpatient, sounds like a salary cap cut to me.
