No Suspension For Downie

from the Philadelphia Inquirer,
Colin Campbell, NHL Executive Vice President and enforcer of discipline, gave him a stern warning about his sucker punch that left Toronto’s Jason Blake with a black eye, but did not suspend him.
“We had a conversation with Mr. Campbell and that’s it. The rest will be between the league, the Flyers and Steve,” said general manager Paul Holmgren. “It was a good talk.
“It’s Steve’s [fourth] NHL game. He’s walking a fine line there, which is basically what he was told. My conversation with Steve was a little harsher than Colin Campbell’s.”

Someone mentioned on yesterday’s Downie post a similar incident happened in another game and that player received nothing so I’m not shocked nothing was given. This is the type of stuff they need to suspend for to get it out of the game.

WAH.
Silly Leafies. You should be more worried about what a joke your organization and team have become.

It was a ridiculous thing to do, but the 40minute penalty seemed like enough for a punch.

Avery was the sucker on the last sucker punch that was not considered a suspendable offense. Only Chris Simon has figured out how to break the suspension code.

It wasn’t really a 4 minute penalty since Blake also got 2 for roughing.

Bullshit refs occur in all forms of the game. Injustice is part of the game, on or off the field.
