No Winner Yet In The Ottawa/San Jose Trade

from James Gordon of Hockey Capital at the Ottawa Citizen,
There are still many unanswered questions. Will Heatley be able to keep up this pace when he’s in his early-to-mid 30s and his cap hit is still $7.5 million? Is this scoring output from Michalek just a blip? What will the Senators do with the second round draft pick they received in the deal? Who will they sign when Cheechoo’s $3.5 million is off the books?
Ultimately, the winner of this trade will be determined by team performance, not individuals. If the Senators manage to climb back into the playoffs and re-establish themselves as contenders in the Eastern Conference, they’ll at least be able to claim a tie.
For the Sharks to be considered winners, they’ll need to post a playoff performance or two that don’t have fans paging Dr. Heimlich.
