From Roger Phillips at NHL.com,
Three days before Christmas, the Vancouver Canucks were stumbling along, mired in a three-game losing streak, unable to score many goals, one game below .500, and seemingly going nowhere.
Three months later, however, the Canucks look like they really might be going places—like deep into the Stanley Cup Playoffs, maybe to the Final, and possibly all the way to their first championship. There would be a certain symmetry to it, too, if the Canucks reach the Final. That would mean each of the Western Canadian teams would have represented the Western Conference in the last three championship series.

Fair enough, Mac. Although, speaking as a Canucks fan, I’d gladly take making it to the Stanley Cup Finals as a consolation prize. (Although if that miraculously happened, I’d probably feel differently about the issue...!)

I’m a Flames fan, so I know all too well about the Game 7 heartbreak!

I dont think the Canucks will win more than one round in the playoffs in light of their good play as of late.
There is still many holes, the PP is atrocious, hardly no secondary scoring, new comer Smolinski has not been very effective putting up numbers and if Luongo gets hurt at any time, Sabourin will not lead them to a Stanley Cup.
Nonis needs to address secondary scoring in the off-season and if he can get someone or 2 players that can jump right in and help nightly, then maybe next season.

Kukla’s Korner is always a free service for readers, but it costs some money to maintain. If you’re ever in a position to donate a few dollars to help out, we’d be very appreciative.

If there is going to be any symmetry to it, the Nucks would have to be a lower seed, beating the big boys, and losing Game 7 of the finals! Sorry to rain on this parade!
