from Kevin Oklobzija of the Democrat and Chronicle,
The Florida Panthers have found their replacement in Rochester for injured center Mark Cullen, thanks to the Washington Capitals.
Center Michael Nylander has been loaned to the Panthers/Amerks.
It’s a significant move because the Panthers will be paying most or all of Nylander’s $3 million salary.
thanks to PuckDaddy for the pointer
added 3:16pm, from Craig Custance tweet,
Also told that Nylander has been loaned to play in Rochester, but Panthers are NOT picking up his salary. Just a straight loan deal

Pierre LeBrun has tweeted the following:
FYI, Caps still on hook for Nylanders’ $3M salary even though he’s been loaned to Rochester. Panthers will pay him $100,000 AHL salary
Sounds like Nylander is getting a 100 grand bonus to go to Rochester…Of course, I’ve never been to Rochester

i know teams have loaned players to other leagues outside of north america, but i had no idea it was allowed to occur to another NHL / AHL team. Can this be done during the playoffs if a team is not in the playoffs? For example, could the Islanders have lent Tavares to the Penguins last year? If not to the penguins, could they have lent him to the baby penguins?
