from the Globe and Mail,
Walkom, who attended the Winter Olympics on behalf of the NHL, was to return from Turin last night. Later today, he will be back at it when he kicks off a weekend training camp with the league’s 33 referees and 34 linesmen near Toronto’s Pearson International Airport to prepare the officials for the final six weeks of the regular season.
There has been concern around the league and from the NHL brass that the stricter rule enforcement demanded this season slipped somewhat in the weeks and days leading up to the Olympic break.
