On The Second Day, The GM’s Talked About…

from Naples News,

So will something happen this year to change the size of the equipment?

“I’m not telling you that it will,” said Colin Campbell, NHL vice president and director hockey operations. “It needs a buy-in by our GMs and our players, particularly the goaltenders.”

“We’re tired of hearing about it ... we understand it all comes down to wanting to win, but we have to do something when you’re illegal.”

Outside of trades and goaltender equipment, other issues discussed at Tuesday’s meetings involved relations with other hockey leagues and potential rule changes.

Too many stoppages? Resurfacing the sliver of the ice for the shoot out is too much to ask for? Then why do we have 4 minute TV timeouts each period while we sit there in the stadium having our ear drums bleed? I can TiVo the game at home, catch up with the action by skipping over commercials and the between period fluff and the game ends at the same time as being there live; yet somehow the NHL can’t figure out a way to have the game continue and have a slight delay in real-time TV broadcast that can be caught up with in between periods so they can cram as many commercials in without missing any action?
