On To London

from Pierre LeBrun at Sportsnet,

The NHL gets hammered for many things, some of them deserved, but let’s applaud it for what’s happening this week in London, England.

The puck drops for the NHL’s 90th season with the Los Angeles Kings and defending Stanley Cup champion Anaheim Ducks playing back-to-back games at the 02 Arena.

I will be on hand and I can’t wait.

A few months ago we mentioned Pierre would be part of the Sportsnet team this season.  A welcomed addition I must say.

Regardless of the merits of the NHL in Europe and Russia, that parting shot at the Blue Jackets really rubbed me the wrong way.

What the Hell did they do to deserve that?  They drew 19th in the league last season despite having the worst record since their inception (and 24th in the standings last season), and that’s what we get for it?  Gee, thanks, LeBrun.

That was just mean-spirited.  Wait until they have a decent, competitive team and see how they draw then.  Few people will pay top dollar to see crap unless they see a plan for the future as well.
