One Ferraro Brother Out With Broken Leg, The Other Brother Suspended For The Season

via Steve Silver of the Las Vegas Sun,
If the Las Vegas Wranglers make the playoffs, they will have to vie for the Kelly Cup without both Ferraro brothers as the fallout from Tuesday night’s brawl with the Alaska Aces continues.
In that melee on Tuesday, Chris Ferraro suffered a season-ending and potentially career-ending broken leg.
Friday morning, the ECHL suspended his brother, Peter, for the remainder of the regular season and the playoffs for spearing another player in the fight after the referees had seemingly stopped the mess.
Peter Ferraro, a 15-year professional veteran with significant NHL experience, notched 16 goals and 14 assists in 52 games with the Wranglers this season. Last season Ferraro posted a team-high 73 points in 68 games.
The video quality is not that great, but watch some of the incident below.

Thanks for the input SYF.
In case anyone asks, the Ferraro brothers are not related to Ray.

Sure thing, Paul. The Alaska Aces are a good team but they’ve had our number this year. This game had a helluva lot of trash-talking behind the play and between the benches. Tensions between these two teams started a couple of games before and it just blew up in this game. Luckily, fans of both teams didn’t go for each other’s throats as badly as the players. There was some X-rated smack talk going on but that’s as far as it went.
#21 of the Wranglers is LW Tim Spencer who, with his helmet on, is a spitting image of Niklas Kronwall. And hits just as hard, too. He’s quickly becoming a fan favorite.
It’s gonna be so much harder now for the Wranglers to find some scoring.

SYF,
Where or when did the spear occur? And how did the guy break his leg? In a fall in the fight?

dip, the video is late into the fighting. I talked to some season-ticket holders who were at the same game and they said Chris hit a rut in the ice as he was trying to calm the melee down. That’s him being attended to on the ice. I didn’t see the spear as I was bitching at the linesman to let Tim Spencer go and assist his teammates.

That’s me to the right of a very drunk SYE. First time I’ve seen you in my neck of the woods.

I can’t believe somebody got this on video! They’re usually very strict about video recording of events in the Orleans Arena. That’s me in the long-sleeved white shirt pounding the glass just above the ESPN sign. I was into about my fifth serving of Bushmill’s and Soda and oh hell, I was drunk.
That’s the same “18 and Over” game. I think there was just 4,000-something fans that showed up for the game.
