Too many beverages?

Whoever tossed them, I hope he isn’t planning on driving home after the game!

George Malik:
Being a man of high intellect and keen judgment, McGeough sent Nicklas Lidstrom to the penalty box for high-sticking, and Manny Malhotra scored his third goal against the Wings in two games on the ensuing power play. Babcock fumed on the bench as the call was made, pointing at Brian Rafalski, who happened to be sitting next to Fox Sports Detroit’s Larry Murphy. Murphy had a monitor in his between-the-boards position, and as Rafalski watched the replay, he screamed, “IT WAS ME!”

McGeough sucks, but then again the NHL refs today are by and large pretty incompetent.  As I’ve said before, mr. betty is trying to make the NHL into the ice capades. hmmm...why do I think he might have been a male figure skater in his younger days.  He certainly knows very little about the world’s fastest sport.

Wings need to get it in gear and quickly. A first round exit would be very embarrasing.

Not sure if the McGeough bashers realize this, but the Wings happen to be 4-0-0 when he’s on the ice. I’m not a fan of his style either, but there’s no arguing with the results.

I tend to subscribe to Mike Babcock’s assertion that, no matter how “ridiculous” a penalty may seem, you can’t change the call--you can just kill it off.

At the same time, I like to dabble in hypocrisy on occasion.  :p

My Laugh of the Day!!!

Has anyone ever noticed that the name “Mr. McGeough” sounds an awful lot like “Mr. Magoo”?  Pure coincidence?  I think not…

“Actually, there’s a very good reason for it. We haven’t fined or given a delay of the game penalty to the throwing of the octopus because we understand and respect the tradition. Having said that though, when you swing the octopus around, I don’t know the exact term for it but octopus gunk gets on the ice and occasionally has gotten on the players, the goaltenders as it goes by. The gunk on the ice, when it freezes on the ice creates a potentially hazardous situation for the players. It’s not about interfering with the tradition. It’s about either making sure that nobody gets it in their eyes like a goaltender nearby or that nobody blows out a knee getting caught on some frozen gunk. You don’t need a big chunk.”
-Answer Given by Gary Bettman about the new octopus rule

Perhaps he was just trying to keep octopus out of his eyes???? I hear that octopus eye injuries in goalies have recently surged
