Steve Ott was defiant in his defense of his hit on Colorado’s Jordan Leopold, which resulted in a three-game suspension today.
“I finished my hit. My one foot did leave the ice, but that’s because my other foot was planted. My right foot never left the ice,” Ott said. “I hit him shoulder to shoulder.”
from the Dallas Morning News,
Dallas Stars forward Steve Ott will receive a three-game suspension for his hit Sunday on Colorado defenseman Jordan Leopold, Stars co-GM Les Jackson confirmed Tuesday night.

CW, the Avs feared they might have lost Salei to a broken eye socket, but so far no severe damage to the area and he may play tomorrow.

Unfortunately, the prognosis on Leopold isn’t as good. Concussion symptoms and a sore neck. Coupled with Foote’s wonky hip, it appears ‘Human Rocket’ Cumiskey will be seeing more time as the playoff push continues.

When I was watching the game they showed a different camera angle of Salei going to Ott to fight and Ott sort of head butted Salei when they started to fight and Salei didn’t do much after that initial hit. I don’t, however, think that he hit him hard enough with his head to break his socket, punches probably did that.

Don’t forget the drop kick by Ott on Salei, Cory. If the refs had allowed it, Ott might have pulled out the swan.
