Ott On Campbell

Bob McKenzie of TSN was just on NHL Live and didn’t like the hit Steve Ott delivered on Gregory Campbell this past Saturday. Nothing from the NHL yet on the hit.
What do you think?

Good job by McCabe. If you’re going to allow fighting in your league under the guise of players policing players, this is when it should occur, and they should have left McCabe to continue pounding him.

I like the look on the face of Modano sitting on the bench (about 2 min. into the video). It appears (at least to me) to convey the message “What did I do to wind up with this cast of clowns?”

I really didn’t think it was that bad....

dirty hit with a clear intent to injure. Ott is a piece of shit and pulls this kind of stuff all the time. This hit was just bad, he should be suspended for a long time, but will probably get only 5 games at most. What a piece of *hit

Hopefully the league will bare down on Ott and also keep Colin Campbell out of the decision-process so that they can slap Ott hard without it looking like it’s just Campbell taking care of his son.

Dirty? what is so dirty about it? I have no problem with the hit.....

I honestly don’t see it as that dirty, and I hate Ott. It was late, no doubt, but he doesn’t go for the head and he doesn’t leave his feet. The sad part is I’m wondering if it doesn’t seem dirty simply because so many other recent hits have numbed me to cheap shots.

Modano needs to get the hell out of there.

A little bit late, otherwise not such a big deal, imo. Ott has some disciplinary history (iirc), so maybe he gets a fine or maybe a game?

Not that big of a deal. Just a little late. Back in the day they would have scolded him for admiring his pass.

It was definitely late and it looked like he got the elbow up, or at the very least didn’t hit him cleanly with the shoulder. He did run the guy, he got a 5 min penalty, so I’m a little confused why some of you are saying it wasn’t that bad. Does he have to decapitate Campbell to get a penalty? Where’s the line?

The league should really send a message to Ott, and suspend him for at least 10 games (and yes, I realize that would go into next season), but he’ll probably just get a slap on the wrist. I’d be surprised if he even gets three games.
