Overrated Players

It’s may have something to do with his perceived personality, but Leafs defenceman Dion Phaneuf certainly isn’t a hit with his peers.
According to a Sports Illustrated Poll scheduled to hit newstands tomorrow (today), Phaneuf is the runaway winner as the NHL’s most overrated player. Of the 272 players asked, 21% listed Phaneuf, who came to the Leafs in a blockbuster deal with Calgary.
Second on the list was Rangers defenceman Scott Gomez (seven percent) floowloed by Canadiens centre Scott Gomez (six per cent) and Rangers pest SEan Avery (five per cent.)
added 7:20am, I have a feeling the above story is old, even though it has a August 23, 2010 date on it. Sorry.

Another Toronto Sun story from yesterday, and this one is old too…
A week after teammate Dion Phaneuf was voted the most overrated player in the NHL, Leafs forward Colton Orr was rated second in a Sports Illustrated poll that asked 272 NHL players “Who is the Toughest Fighter?”
Minnesota Wild winger Derek Boogaard got the most votes (44%) followed by Orr (21%). It was a steep drop off to the next scrapper on the list, Rangers winger Jody Shelly (5%).
Orr, by the way, has been in 21 fights this season, fifth highest in the league. He also leads the Leafs in penalty minutes with 211.

I have a feeling the above story is old,
It is. It first hit the newstands for the April 4,2010 issue.
Things are slow this off-season, i blame it on Kovalchuk.
Maybe Longley should stick with writing NFL stories.

“Rangers defenceman Scott Gomez” ?
If Gomez can double as both a Rangers defenseman and a Canadiens forward, I’m hard-pressed to believe that he’s “overrated”.

I remember reading this story when it first came out actually.
I think he just must’ve had Scott Gomez on the brain but if you’re talking overrated Ranger defensemen he must have meant to say Wade Redden even though I’m willing to bet it’s Marc Stall… can anyone find this out?
