from Dave Waddell of the Windsor Star,
In the roiling cauldron that was Joe Louis Arena, where fans were alternating covering their eyes or leaping to their feet, Detroit goalie Chris Osgood was oblivious to the stress.
His so-called fun peaked with 8.4 seconds left in game when John-Michael Liles had the game on his stick and 20,066 fans had their hearts in their mouths.
However, Osgood plucked the puck and a victory out of mid-air to give the Detroit Red Wings a 4-3 victory over the Colorado Avalanche Thursday in Game 1 of their Western Conference semifinal at Joe Louis Arena.
thanks to a KK member for the pointer…

Ozzie is quite a contrast to “suicidal” Legace and the Insane Czech. Reports are that Jimmy Howard is more like Ozzie than the other two. In fact, a year or so ago he was quoted as saying, “I’m probably the sanest goalie you’ll ever meet.”
Hopefully we’ll find out more about Howard next year because I don’t think I (or my ulcer) can take another season of the CMOI.

Viewing that save never gets old. I watched all the replays on Versus last night, and this video at least a half-dozen times already today. Beautiful save! A game winner right there.

Definitely. I recall saying, “that’s as big as a game winning goal right there.” I for one think Hasek’s a ton of fun to watch for his antics…. in the regular season. Come playoffs, Ozzie’s earned the spot.
