from Tom Gulitti of Fire & Ice,
“Nothing has happened thus far,” Parise said. “I’m sure if my agents hear something they’ll let me know.”
The Devils could file for team-elected arbitration – the deadline is the later date of June 15 or 48 hours after the final game of the Stanley Cup Finals – which would prevent Parise from fielding offer sheets from other teams on July 1.
That would also lock Parise into a one-year contract, however, if the sides didn’t reach an agreement before the arbitrators hands down a decision.Parise is open to signing long-term, but doesn’t know at this point if he will have to settle for a one-year deal.
“It’s tough to answer right now,” he said. “I guess you’ve just got to see how everything plays out. Of course, you’d like the long-term thing, but we’ve got to find out what the team’s plans are and we’ll go from there. I don’t think it will take that much time.”
