Pattern Developing For Ducks

from Damien Cox of the Toronto Star,
While it’s too early to say the Ducks are on the same path as the Canes were last year in following up their Cup victory by missing the post-season tournament, there are some similarities, and falling from 52 to 40 wins was enough for Carolina to accomplish that dubious feat.
Interestingly, the Ducks – who may get Bertuzzi and Schneider back next week – are off to a slightly worse start than were the Hurricanes a year ago after the same number of games, and because Randy Carlyle’s team plays in a much tougher division, the slow start could be equally deadly.
Tampa Bay, meanwhile, hasn’t won a playoff series since it won it all in 2004. These days, with the salary cap and free agency a tough challenge for all quality teams, being the NHL champ seems to be a precursor to tough times.
