Pay The Price For Guerin

Wings beat writer Ansar Khan answers some mail,
“Would the high price for Guerin really be worth it for the Wings? I don’t want to be doom & gloom, but are they capable of getting past an Anaheim, Nashville or San Jose in the west? I know anything can happen, but I just don’t see it, so I don’t think it’s worth it to further mortgage their future.’’—John.
It’s a delicate balancing act, for sure. But when you have Dominik Hasek you better seize the opportunity to win it all now because you might not get this good a chance in the next few years. I think Guerin would be ideal for this team and I think they’d give up a first-rounder and a medium prospect (they’re not trading Valtteri Filppula, Jakub Kindl, Jimmy Howard or Cory Emmerton), but the Blues might want a second-rounder as well.
