Penguins/CBJ Trade Talk

From Aaron Portzline at Puck-rakers in the Columbus Dispatch,
The Pittsburgh Penguins won’t be able to keep their Stanley Cup runner-up club together because of salary cap issues. It looks like the Blue Jackets are prepared to offer a helping hand.
The two clubs have had preliminary trade talks, the Dispatch has learned. The discussions have involved Pittsburgh trading the rights to one or two of their pending unrestricted free agents—players the Penguins have decided they can’t keep because of the salary cap—to the Blue Jackets for draft pick or player compensation.
It’s unclear who the players are, but Ryan Malone and Brooks Orpik seem like logical choices.

True, and he does go on to mention Hossa as well. Personally, I have no guesses about what’s going on with the Pens and BJs, but I imagine you’re right, that they’d like to sign those 2 guys.
All I can add here is that Portzline is clear that he’s just speculating on the names. And I’d also add that he’s a reputable CBJ beat writer who doesn’t bring up a topic simply to get attention (that I’ve ever seen).
With that in mind, his thoughts seemed worthy of throwing into the mix.

Calm down, evilpens. Apparenty you’re the one still in Junior High.
The reason I said it was more likely Hossa’s rights are being discussed is because there is no way the Pens can afford to keep him. I can’t imagine that Shero wouldn’t at least attempt to re-sign Ryan Malone as much as possible prior to his hitting the open-market on July 1.

Why don’t you people get it, Bugsy Malone’s Ryn’s & also his Dad Greg’s Nickname is a Garbageman, You want to pay 4 + million a year for a garbageman with a salary cap go ahead, Minnesota found that out when they signed Mark Parrish to a ridiculous contract at the time for a garbageman & they have been trying to find takers for over a season now
They will sign Hossa, You TweedleBrains have to get this Tampa Bay syndrome out of your head, They signed guys to to big of contracts & also did a terrible job drafting & signing guys, BUT the biggest problem is their owner WOULDN’T spend to the cap ceiling.
Unlike The Pens Owner Ron Burkle who at last check was worth 2.5 BILLION dollars & have said they will spend to the cap & have a NEW ARENA COMING!!!
GOOD GOD DO SOME RESEARCH!!!!

Uhh…no. Hossa would be a logical choice, maybe Orpik, but they will likely try to re-sign Malone, and possibly Orpik.
