From the Pittsburgh Penguins:
The Pittsburgh Penguins have elected to file for salary arbitration with goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury, it was announced today by Executive Vice President and General Manager Ray Shero.
Arbitration hearings are set by the National Hockey League and take place from July 20 to August 4. Both sides can continue to negotiate a contract until that time. As a result of the filing, the Penguins retain his rights and he will not become a restricted free agent on July 1.

Kukla’s Korner is always a free service for readers, but it costs some money to maintain. If you’re ever in a position to donate a few dollars to help out, we’d be very appreciative.

To me MAF was badly outplayed by Osgood. I know the TV hacks were heaping praise on him, but look with an unbiased eye at the Finals and MAF let in numerous soft goals 5-hole and otherwise, trickling into the net, whereas Osgood was solid in his saves.
MAF is probably good to lock down, but c’mon, he was anything but spectacular in the Finals and certainly wasn’t good enough to give the Pens a chance to stay in the series. Of course, the numerous and frequent stretches when the Wings were badly outplaying the Pens and outshooting them 12-1 didn’t help them, I guess some of them were bound to go in.
