Penguins On A Roll

from Ryan Kennedy of The Hockey News,

If you’re an Eastern Conference team and you’ve seen the Pittsburgh Penguins lately, fear may be a survival instinct. Simply put, the Pens are hot right now – seven wins in a row hot. And for opponents, it’s that clicking-on-all-cylinders mojo that makes the Penguins a dangerous post-season foe.

Momentum is everything in the NHL, but timing is a close second. Don’t forget, at different points in the season the New York Rangers were an elite squad, the Dallas Stars were a dangerous playoff team and the Los Angeles Kings were challenging for a post-season berth.

For most of the year, the Penguins were kneecapped by key injuries (Sergei Gonchar and the now-departed Ryan Whitney the most crucial early on), but things really seem to be coming together now.

Once again people overhype the Pens. They won 7 in row, who cares? They cant play defence and which means they have no shot at winning the Cup. Defences win championships, stats prove it. I would be shocked if anyone besides Boston or New Jersey wins the East. Pittsburgh has an average blueline, Gonchar is great offensively but is not great defensively. As for momentum, it means nothing. The Sharks went 18-0-2 heading into the playoffs last year and lost in round 2 to a Stars team who won 3 of 13 games heading into the playoffs.

People in the media only are saying “oh look out for the Pens” because they like to kiss Baby Cindy’s a$$

I still dont understand why Pittsburgh get so much hype. They became a disgrace to hockey when they purposely tanked their last game so they could play Ottawa in the 1st round. Just like when Sweden tanked their game so they could play Switzerland at the 2006 Winter Olympics.

what i find funny is how the canadian media jumped all over semin, but i didn’t see a single thing written about jeremy roenick’s comments about crosby.

“I see too many kids going the wrong way,” [Roenick] said. “They don’t have the respect or the know-how to treat the sport - even Sidney Crosby. You see him bitching, whining and crying. He’s supposed to be the poster boy of our league and yet every time he gets hit, he’s grimacing and complaining to the referees. Veterans teach the kids the right way to play.”  -from the Mercury News

you have to love the non-biased, non-agenda media.  ha!

I have deleted a few comments from here, since the comments were coming from the same person using numerous screen names.

Discuss all you want, but don’t abuse the system.  Not cool and not the way things are done here at KK.
