Penner Has Lost His Game

from Terry Jones of the Edmonton Sun,
Penner was a dressing room no-show after the game, sending word that he was “in the gym.”
The previous game, MacTavish had been asked about benching Penner and replied: “Dustin lacks the consistency, night in and night out, but I wasn’t upset with the lack of focus or energy. He just struggled with the puck.”
Yesterday, he had more to say.
“He’s lost his game. It’s more than his play with the puck. When you have a guy like Hemsky playing the way he is right now, all you have to do is get him the puck somewhere between the hash marks in your own end and the red line and you are going to get a chance.
“Hemsky’s an elite player playing at the top of the game and we have to find someone for him.”

Dustin Penner is seriously out of shape. Edmonton should have never signed him for 4 million a year and people have been saying that from the start. Yes Penner was a solid player in Anaheim, but he was not a true go to guy which I think Edmonton thought they we’re getting.
Maybe if he starts really taking his conditioning more seriously, He could be a more dominant force.

MacT should have been gassed after the Oilers failed to make the playoffs the season following the run to game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals. Isn’t one definition of insanity repeating the same process and expecting a different result? This is at least the 3rd time this season MacT has called out Penner and it isn’t working.
You either need to get rid of the coach or get rid of the player, and with Penner’s salary, I don’t think the player is going anywhere.

Dustin Penner is an overrated, lazy, piece of s-h-i-t. Its really sad to see, in today’s crumbling economy, a person get 4 million a year for doing nothing. I feel sorry for the oiler fans, (maybe the nhl’s best) who spend a lot of time and hard earned money to follow this team and this guy contributing nothing, while he sticks it to the oiler fans.
