Phaneuf Out

from CalgaryFlames.com,

Dion Phaneuf did not take part in the morning skate and head coach Mike Keenan erased all questions about the status of the blueliner for tonight’s contest.

“No, he will not,” was Keenan’s response when asked if Phaneuf would play. “He’s not available. And his status is day-to-day.”

Phaneuf’s teammates expressed their concern about his possible absence but remained positive that they could handle the 24-year-old’s workload.

This, honestly, doesn’t concern me too much!  He has not had a great year and hasn’t been outstanding in the playoffs!  Don’t get me wrong, I wish he were in the lineup but it is not going to win or lose the series for Calgary!

To be fair, the way he’s been playing he could feasibly LOSE the series for CGY, were he in the lineup… so I guess that’s one less worry.

Someone check the postdate on that story… did they just forget to mention that Phaneuf’s been out since game 1?

As Jerry used to say in the old Seinfeld series, “Aw, that’s a shame.”
