Pierre McGuire As Wild GM

from Damien Cox of the Toronto Star,

The Minnesota Wild might view Pierre McGuire as the next John Davidson.

That would be good for McGuire.

Or, the Wild might see less Davidson, and more Barry Melrose.

Not so good.

What we know for sure is that McGuire, as well-known a hockey broadcaster as there is in this country outside of Don Cherry, is on the short list to become the next general manager of the Wild, succeeding the departed Doug Risebrough.

Being a GM, according to Ken Holland, comes down to player assessment. If that’s true, then McGuire, known as the Douche Canoe, is the worst possible choice. He has no nuance in his analysis and points out the obvious in any broadcast, noting a dominant performance from a dominant player and nothing else. He’s a bandwagon guy.

I don’t know ‘bout him as a GM,but as an analist he’s not good. everything is either the best (great play, awsome player) or the worst (terrible play...). There’s never any middle ground, where 85% of players and the play of the game stands, No Nuance.
