Wallaceburg, ON – TPS Hockey announced today that its 2nd Annual Tribute to Hockey Moms will take place March 16, 17, and 18. With the success of last years inaugural campaign which raised over $150,000 USD for breast cancer research, TPS - along with other stick manufacturers - is again looking forward to painting the “rink pink” with NHL players using special edition pink sticks featuring the pink ribbon - the internationally recognized symbol in the fight against breast cancer. The sticks will be used in practices, pre-game warm-ups and games throughout the weekend.
Mike Comrie of the Ottawa Senators remembers last year: “Losing my mom to breast cancer was the hardest thing. Over the years I’ve scored what I thought were big goals, but to score a goal last year using the pink stick for my Mom will always be the greatest for me.” Added Dwayne Roloson of the Edmonton Oilers, “My Mom is like the goal post, I’m always using her for support. She and the rest of the moms in any sport deserve to be recognized.”
The limited edition hockey sticks will be autographed by the NHL players and auctioned on eBay through the TPS Tribute to Hockey Moms Pink Stick auction. For more details please visit the pink stick section of http://www.tpshockey.com. Funds raised will support breast cancer research through the NHL/NHLPA’s Hockey Fights Cancer program and its Canadian charity partner, the Canadian Cancer Society.
Wayne Gretzky, coach and owner of the Phoenix Coyotes adds: “I couldn’t believe the reaction from last year with all players jumping on board, but then I realized NHL players never forget where they came from or how they got there. My mother would have been very proud.”
TPS Chairman Paul Walker comments: “We are extremely pleased to the have the support of the NHLPA, NHL, and the Canadian Cancer Society for the 2nd Annual Tribute Weekend. It is our small way to raise cancer awareness, funds for research, and show how a little pink can go a long wa
