Please Sell The Kings

from Steve Dilbeck of the LA Daily News,

Enough already.

Enough bluster. Enough talk of a different future.

Enough mediocre/simply bad hockey.

It is time for Philip Anschutz to sell the Kings. Time to wave goodbye.

Please.

Say what you want about the quality of the hockey. Say what you want about coaches, GMs not producing results. Even say that Anschutz has probably been to 10 games in 10 years (and owned 10 soccer teams in that time).

But at least the ownership group is stable (not declaring bankruptcy, spending time in jail). AEG is, yes, about the buildings, using Staples Center to build around it and everything else you’ve heard. They also built the building, built the training center, established firm ground in the AHL and for the first time possibly ever in L.A., believed in this crazy thing called holding on to your draft picks and building for the future.

If I want anything out of AEG, it’s for them to put some pressure on Lombardi and co. next season to produce results. The Kings have a lot of great young forwards but no window stays open forever.
