Poor Homer

from Cam Cole of the Vancouver Sun,

Pity Tomas Holmstrom.

How often are you going to see those three words in a row?

But really. For the second time in as many Western Conference finals, the Detroit Red Wings’ hard-headed Swede, who has made a living out of obstructing goaltenders’ vision and scoring garbage goals no longer than his hockey stick, is deserving of our sympathy. A limited amount. Certain terms and conditions may apply. See your dealer for details.

Stuff happens in a game. You get over that. A bad call is a bad call but, it is more than obvious Homer is a marked man. And yes, that goal should have counted. You get over that and, finish them off at home. Cam Cole pretty much hit the nail right on the head. There is a double standard. Also, why aren’t officials fined when they screw things up? Thanks,Gary.Ass

I feel bad because the sports talking heads in two countries are rambling about the size of his butt.  Poor Homer.  smile

Baroque, my thoughts exactly.  Although my wife was kind enough to mention that at least the Mule isn’t on his line...it wouldn invitably be called the Big Ass Line.

I hereby nominate Colin Campbell as the King of Fools—or is it Tools?. One day he basically calls Osgood a wimp for faling down when hit with a BC two-hander. A few days later, he’s all about protecting Marty Turco from...the horrors of a good screen!

Oh and a few more things…

-- “Coly’s” veiled threats should also apply to the endless whining and lobbying in the media by Turco and Steve Ott—who’s still bitching about a call he didn’t like in Game 1! (And it wasn’t even on him!)

-- The referee crew’s pre-game “watch list” really needs to include good ol’ Marty, “Otter,” Morrow, and a few other Stars (here’s a tip for Steve Walkom and the boys...there are things happening behind the play...lots of things...bad things).

-- And finally,

Holmstrom scored a goal in Game 1 on which he was all over Turco like a hair shirt, clearly inside the paint, and there was no call.[/quote]

I’d like to suggest Mr. Cole and a few other MSM folks actually look at the video before making this type of statement. IMHO, that must be one loose fitting “hair shirt.” There was definitely some contact, but c’mon…

The only possible plus is that in this case, the defense that “these pants make my butt look big” is totally legit!

In how many other professions that can you think of, when you go into work for the day does your ass drive your competitors to fits?
