Possible Destinations For Emery

from Sam McCaig of the Hockey News,

Here are nine teams, in alphabetical order, where Emery might fit:

Chicago – Nikolai Khabibulin can become an unrestricted free agent next summer and the up-and-coming Hawks will be looking for a goalie who can grow and develop with its young, talented team.

Colorado – If the Avs don’t re-sign Jose Theodore, they’ll be desperate for a No. 1.

No matter how many ways the Kings say no, writers say Emery would/should work in LA. Um, no, he wouldn’t. It’s Ersberg/LaBarbera in goal this year. Get over it!

Detroit?

I would rather poke myself in the eye with a sharp stick.

I could see Tampa, just because he’s flashy.

...nobody’s better at reclamation projects than the Wings.

The Wings have shown they can help ressurect a player who has struggled with on-ice problems. Emery’s problems are in his head and there’s absolutely no way the Wings would allow that “cancer” to infect their dressing room.

The Wings rule is: attitude (commitment) is #1, skill is #2, and everything else is #3. I’m not even sure Emery qualifies under point #2, but I’m 100% certain that he has failed miserably under point #1. Let him go to the Dive where his number can be retired after leading them to the #8 playoff spot next year. wink

I also don’t see Chicago, not because I think their goaltending is either set or deep (I have no clue), but because they are putting together a very nice collection of young, talented, hard-working hockey players, with a very young leadership that might not be as able to call out a teammate who was a problem.

There is not way they could possibly contemplate anything that would derail that.

No.

Absolutely NO.  I do not want that headcase in Detroit’s dressing room.

Nobody wants Emery. He’s a mess. In addition to his showing up late for practices and his attitude problems, for crying out loud, he’s gotten into fist fights with his own teammates.

I agree with Jennifer in that with the Sens, Emery was a locker room cancer.

However, may be with the right team, maybe’s he’s a different story.
