Post-Season Has Not Been Kind To Tkachuk

from Matthew Sekeres of the Globe and Mail,
When Keith Tkachuk calls it a career, which won’t be this summer, he will go down as one of the greatest Americans to have played in the NHL.
But there is an uncomfortable truth about the 37-year-old forward, whose hair and beard are now primarily grey, and it seems to be continuing this spring. The St. Louis Blues are facing playoff elimination, down three games to none to the Vancouver Canucks in a best-of-seven Western Conference quarter-final, and are climbing a mountain of history to erase that disadvantage.
For Tkachuk, first-round exits are par for the course. They have happened 10 times in his 12 postseason appearances, and it’s about to be 11 of 13 if the Canucks can win tonight in Game 4 at the Scottrade Center.

Kukla’s Korner is always a free service for readers, but it costs some money to maintain. If you’re ever in a position to donate a few dollars to help out, we’d be very appreciative.

This really isn’t fair, Tkachuck was a physical presence in game three. He did everything he was supposed to do in his lesser role; he hit, went to the net, and caused chaos with Vancouver’s defense. It really isn’t his fault that the Blue’s are completely overmatched in this round. Why not blame Backes or Hinote? How about laying blame on the D, or Mason?
Or, maybe if Crombeen and Winchester could live up to the “young power forward” tag, a la Kieth, the series might be going differently. Really, why single out Tkachuk, who is playing better than he has in the last 3 years? St Louis just isn’t a serious playoff contender this year - I know it, you know it, and they just were never going to beat the Canucks.
...And blaming Tkachuk for Phoenix’s early exits, when they were a mediocre team, at best? Give me a break.
