from TSN,
NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly admits that Jim Balsillie’s bid for the Phoenix Coyotes caught league officials by surprise and says there have been multiple offers to keep the team in Arizona.
Speaking on XM Radio’s NHL Home Ice on Friday, Daly said the league had been working with Coyotes owner Jerry Moyes on potential ownership options right up until the team filed for bankruptcy on Tuesday.

Mr. Moyes acts like the NHL is trying to pull a fast one on him. I think its evident that he is acting in desperation as things are not that bad for him as Swift Transportation stocks are currently trading near a 52 week high! SO WHY THE FOR BANKRUPTCY? All credtors are being paid, The NHL has not done their homework to see if southern Ont. could support another team. I think markets like Chicago,Minnapolis,or Detroit could support another team, Chicago even has a NHL calibar arena in Rosemont , where the Wolves play. The NHL just fixed the touchy Buffalo situation so i don`t beleive they want any interference from another team there. From all you fans that signed the make it seven.com website have Mr. Bastille go through channels and not try to steal somones teams, i.e. Pittsburg,Nashville, and now Phoenix. Let the NHL do their research, be approved by the board of Governors and pay the NHL expansion fee. The bottom line is that the NHL is doing the right thing to add new fans. We go to Coyotes games and i explain the game which I grew-up , to new potental fans. And I got to say that rocks. We just need a solis owner, who has a history of owning a winning sports franchise like Jerry Reinsdorf. He saved the White Sox from a horrible fate in Orlando. I would also would be in favor as a property owner in Glendale, for a bond issue to help the Coyotes, get over the hump as a temporary messure. We love our `Yotes here , MR BASTILLE YOU CANT STEAL THEM FROM US!

I have an idea. Let Balsillie buy the team on the condition that he either moves the team to Winnipeg, or keeps them in Phoenix for two years before moving.
