The pre-season schedule is predictably weird.
Find your own theories….
I have heard all the yada-yada about venue availability and Franchise requests every year, but personally….
I think the scheduling chimps were rushed trying to make their tee times.

It does make sense for the Wings to play eastern conference teams. That gives them a bit more rest for the season. Plus, they’re playing the first three games of the season against the east. The NHL sure looks like they want the Wings to be rested up to win the Cup again…
