Predators Must Make A Goalie Decision

from John Gkennon of the Tennessean,
On Monday, Dan Ellis helped the Predators start their current road trip off on the right note by stopping 30 of 32 shots in a 3-2 victory at Vancouver.
Twenty-four hours later, a fresh-legged Pekka Rinne took charge, turning away 38 shots in Nashville’s 5-3 win at Edmonton.
It was the latest example of the unconventional — and successful — pattern the Predators have used for almost three weeks now, alternating starting goalies in every instance but one for the past 10 games.
But with both goalies in the final years of their contracts, the long-range future is a little cloudier.
General Manager David Poile would love to re-sign both goalies, but because of Nashville’s comparatively small payroll situation, even he acknowledges it “would probably be a challenge.’‘
So if only one goalie is likely to be wearing a Nashville jersey next season, the question becomes what the Predators will do with the other.
