Pressing Questions

From Allan Muir at Sports Illustrated:

Dallas Stars: Cup contenders or kidding themselves?

Heading into last season, the obvious question was, “Can this team compete for a playoff spot?” At the time, it was touch and go. The core was graying and burdened by a legacy of recent postseason failures that suggested their best days were a decade behind them.

And now?

Does anyone know what would happen to the Kings if they decided not to, or couldn’t fill their cap space? Like is there a punishment? And if so what is it?

Good question.

In that article, Muir’s comment is that punishment is “a series of sanctions and penalties.” I’m not sure where he’s getting that info from because I can’t find specifics of those sanctions outlined anywhere, but I’ll keep looking.

I know what the punishment should be.

Forfeit the game so the other team gets a free two points, and the front office of the extra-low-payroll team has to line up on the ice while the season ticket holders (who, I am sure, would like their money go to actually putting a team on the ice that not only is fun to watch, but actually has a high enough payroll that they are allowed to play) get to give them all wedgies for not doing the math as well as when they figured out what ticket price increases to put in effect during the offseason.  smile

A few sessions of that and they’d get the payroll back up over the floor pretty fast, I suspect.

The wedgies sound alright, but i prefer something we used to do in soccer.
Line the front office up in front of the net, and allow the season ticket holders to shoot pucks at them.
I think a couple broken face bones and they would begin to get the point.
