Good pick up for Philly, Prospal should do as well if not better in Philadelphia.

According to Tom Gulitti:

It’s Philadelphia’s second-rounder in 2009 if the Flyers make the 2008 conference finals or Calgary’s 2009 third-round pick if the Flyers don’t reach the conference finals.

For some reason, I had a gut feeling that Prospal had played for the Flyers briefly before. I double-checked, and sure enough he was drafted 71st overall by the Flyers in 1993, and played 59 games with them during parts of the 1996-97 and 1997-98 seasons before being a part of the Alexandre Daigle trade.

It’s been 10 years, but he could adjust a little quicker considering he’s played there before (is comfortable in the city, etc.).

Is it a little strange both trades were for someone named Alexandre?

Both of the recent acquisitions by the Flyers, Prospal and Jaroslav Modrý, come from the same city, České Budějovice in the Czech Republic . . . another strange coincidence.

I’d say Philly got the better end of the stick on this one.  By far.  I would have thought Prospal was worth more than that. Huh. Oh well, good for both teams.

Let me put this as simply as I can: Crap!

I guess now it’s down to Antropov, Sergei or Hossa among the “talked about” forwards and/or a defenseman. Given the asking price, it seems like Kenny could have gotten Prospal if he really wanted him (with something like Quincey and a second-rounder). So I guess he has his sights set elsewhere. Oh well.

Yeah, I thought Prospal would have been a good fit that would allow the Wings to thrive while having Z and Datsyuk play on different lines. It’s obvious the price wasn’t too much as Detroit has some good depth amongst their d-men prospects.

It’s okay, OTC.

If you want a center, I hear that Chicago has a guy named Lang who is available.
