PuckDaddy Style- Player Of The Decade

from Greg Wyshynski of PuckDaddy,
How you choose to define, or quantify, the “best” player in the NHL over the last decade will determine your level of agreement with this ranking, which is sure to be one of our most controversial End of Decade lists.
Do you judge greatness based on flashy stats? Championship rings and playoff performance? Individual awards? Do you factor in intangibles like leadership or reputation?

Perhaps Wyshynski is trying to get back in the good graces of Wings fans. I know as I scrolled down 4th and then 3rd, I was thinking that Wizzer left TPH off the list completely, just to spite the A2Y Tin Foil Hat Society.
Good Job, Wyshynski. I disagree with the inclusion of Sakic. Like Yzerman, his best years were in the 1990s. And your list seems overloaded with puck hogs that don’t play both ends of the ice. I personally would not have included Thornton or Jagr, but their stats make a strong case for their inclusion.
I think Datsyuk deserves inclusion. He is certainly the best two-way player of the decade. 546 games, 540 points, plus 163, 3 time all star, 4 time Byng award winner, and most importantly a 2 time Selke award winner.

First, I would put on a “Tin Foil Hat”. Then I would lose any credibility I had left and choose Sidney Crosby. Mostly because the league told me to.
