From Steve Simmons at the Toronto Sun,
John Ferguson must be replaced as general manager of the Maple Leafs before he can do any more damage to the hockey club.
This is not a 10-game overreaction to a team off to a troubling start. This is a 174-game analysis—three seasons of post-lockout Ferguson Leafs teams.
And now, basically all that stands between him and his removal is the fact that he hired no one in the front office to assist him who is capable of taking his job—the way Paul Holmgren stepped into Bobby Clarke’s position a year ago in Philadelphia.

Man, there’s a fixation on Detroit by the Toronto media, eh? They kept the Bowman story alive for months after Scotty politely spurned the Leafs, now Simmons is stumping for Holland, who won’t leave the Wings for love or money.
Look elsewhere for a new GM, Toronto media, because he’s not coming from the Red Wings.

Typical Simmons babble, he’s always had this fire JFJ pom pom campaign going, since the 1st day he was hired I believe.

Next thing you know, they will float hiring Yzerman since he might not want to wait until Holland leaves…

Actually i’d love to see Stevie Y take over the reigns in Toronto, but like Kukla said, aint’ gonna happen.
Any other possibilities? Even though i’m not ready to hang Junior yet.

So, first Toronto is interested in Scotty Bowman, now it is suggested they go after Ken Holland, eh? I can’t see them really making any moves during the season, even if the fans are worried that Ferguson will do something stupid(er) with trades before the offseason.
