“Pushing Things” with Havlat’s Injury

From CBC:
Martin Havlat was out cold for more than a minute with a vacant stare on his face.
Detroit’s Niklas Kronwall had just crushed the Chicago Blackhawks’ leading scorer, and once he regained consciousness, Havlat needed the help of a teammate and trainer to get up and off the ice. He didn’t return. But two days later, the 28-year-old was in the lineup for Game 4 of the Western Conference Final.
“I was shocked,” concussion specialist Michael Czarnota told CBCSports.ca.
Czarnota, the neuropsychology consultant for the Canadian Hockey League, wasn’t attending the game and is not treating Havlat. But alarm bells went off when he saw No. 24 return in time for Sunday’s game.
“It’s the NHL, it’s the playoffs, so guys are willing to do a little bit more.… But it sure seemed that two days later was sort of pushing things.”
Video below is the second hit, the one that knocked him out of game 4.

Stuart’s hit on Havlat was about a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10. If that’s what knocked him out of the game, the Hawks should be ashamed of themselves for allowing him to play. Every player wants to play every game in the playoffs. But responsible teams only allow healthy players to take the ice.
At the beginning of this series I had a lot of respect for the Hawks players, their organization and the way they fought their way into the Conference Finals. But now? Not so much.

After the first hit If I had been the trainer I would have told him to take his uniform off because he would be done for the night.

I agree, I was shocked he returned, and I refuse to believe a player can be knocked unconscious (they can’t argue that, the video fo the Kronwall hit shows him out cold) and yet be cleared to play 2 days later with no PCS-like signs. I didn’t want to see Havlat playing for fear of something like, well, what happened with Stuart then nailing him in Game 4.
And keep in mind… I have him on a playoff pool team. So I’m not saying that as a Wings fan, just as someone with common sense who actually kinda’ likes Havlat and the fact he keeps destroying himself trying to play above his physical abilities.
