Questioning Ottawa

from Stan Fischler at the Hockey Journal,
• The issue is how long Senators owner Eugene Melnyk will tolerate an underachieving team? Will Bryan Murray trade (not easy) Jason Spezza? (Edmonton is said to be a possibility.) Will Murray go the Tampa route and can Craig (Hardly Inspirational) Hartsburg? How safe is Murray? The Sens are home Thursday (Montreal) and Saturday (Rangers). By Sunday Melnyk will have had enough time to pick his route; especially if his club is in a rout!
• Has it dawned on any of the Ottawa genius fans who booed Wade Redden that his absence is one reason why their Senators are plumbing the NHL depths?

Sorry...but the Sens ain’t going anywhere. They have no goaltending, no quality Dmen and a lame coach. The guy coached Chicago afterall....On top of that other than their top three forwards they don’t have anything that any other team in the league doesn’t have.

Paul, the loss of the shell of Wade Redden’s former self is not the reason for the Senators drop in the standings. If you have been following the Rangers this season and especially last night against Vancouver you should know that his game hasn’t improved one bit since he left Ottawa. The D now are struggling to move the puck, I won’t disagree, but Wade Redden’s liabilities far outweigh any puck moving benefits he has left. The Sens problems stem from change in the sense that 4/6 D and 3/12 F are different from last season. It will take some time to re-adjust with a new coach and team, let’s hope its not an entire season.
Cheers and Go Sens.
