Alex, can i call you Alex, or should it be Mr. Ovechkin? I loved your skates at the Olympics, with the red blades, was there a special signifcance to that, or was it just because they looked so cool?  Also any advice to give a 2nd year player trying to make a college hockey team?  Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot

I’ve always wondered if you and the team go out after a good victory and throw a few back.  If so, I’m sure you get hit on by lots of girls, they must recognize you.  Do you take advantage of the bountiful beauties, or are you more the sensitive type that’s satisfied with a steady relationship?

Alex,

You’ve scored on your feet. You’ve scored flat on your back. When are you going to try winning a shootout with a goal scored from between your legs?

And when you play the Devils next, are you planning to hang a five-spot or so on Martin Brodeur as payback for him whining about your Robocop-visor and getting it banned?

(look, somebody had to ask these kinds of questions--might as well be me.)

Alex, we know you are the real deal.  With the way I’ve seen the Caps play as a team thus far in this young NHL season, I see a bright future ahead, much like the Pens.  With Olaf Kolzig opting to re-sign with Washington rather than playing elsewhere, what does that tell about the internal view of your future as a franchise? Also, briefly, just HOW good is teammate and fellow countryman Alexander Semin in your opinion?

I have a 2-part question:

A) It has been documented several times that you (A.O.) think that Andrei Markov is the toughest defenceman to play against in the league.  As most know, Markov is not nasty nor overly physical.  What is it about Andrei that makes him so tough to play against?

B) In the Montreal Canadien community, many believe that Alexei Kovalev may in fact be the most talented player to ever lace up skates.  But, it is also perceived that he has a lack of drive (to win) and passion (for the game).  As someone who has likely followed Russian hockey players, and has certainly played with Kovalev internationally, what’s up with AK27?  Is his skill set over-hyped in Montreal? Or does he really not play up to his ability, and why?

Alex,
I have a few questions for you.. just thinking outside the box and not wanting to come back here and post a million different times here they all are:
1. Since your all about clothes and fashion who is your favorite designer?
2. What is your favorite alcoholic drink.. besides vodka?
3. If you could be any animal what would it be?
4. What is your favorite candy?
5. What do you do when you wake up in the morning?
6. What is your favorite cd?
7. What is your “dream” car?
8. If you could be anyone in history who would it be and why?
9. What is the strangest thing you have been given by a fan?
10. Is there a place you have never been to that you really want to go to?
thats all smile thanks Ovie!

After watching your loss against Atlanta last week, I wonder did you ever take diving lessons or is that just natural for you?

Hi Alex,
I am a huge fan of yours! I have a quick question and it relates to music. What type of music do you listen to to get hyped before a hockey game?

Alex,
If you could choose any current NHL player and add his unique skill to your arsenal, who/what would it be?
Brashear’s fighting skills?
Chara’s reach?
Kovalchuk’s one-timer?
Semin’s English-speaking ability?

You are unquestionably a very gifted and talented player, however all players need to train effectively. Capital’s Team Physiologist Jack Blatherwick is the best hockey trainer in the world.  Can you comment on what it is like to train with him?  What suggestions would you give young players for training to be like you some day?  or better yet, training to be a goalie?

Hi Alexander,

I play for the Hagerstown Bulldogs Mites hockey team.  Hagerstown is only about an hour and fifteen minutes from D.C. It would mean alot to the Bulldogs if you and some of your Caps teammates could make it out to the rink sometime.  Do you think next summer you guys could come out here to skate with us?

Thanks!

Are you comfortable in Washington? would you ever consider playing on a contender? because if the caps are going to be a contender they need to build around you more talented players, don’t you agree? because other than Semin who is also a LW, you don’t have a good playmaking centre!

The Great Russian! Are you going to beat Gretzky Wayne’s points in the all career?
Do you goal to get more than 100 goals?
Good luck! Hard work in your life!

Hi, Ovie!

It’s a joy to watch you play! I’m curious...who is your favorite Muppet, and why? (If it’s a character from Ulitsa Sesam [Russia’s version of Sesame Street], please explain who he or she is.) Thanks!

Hey Alex!
I love watching you play cause you are such an amazing player! It seems like all parents have nicknames for their kids and I was wondering if your family has any nicknames for you. Also, when you go golfing, do you pull out the hockey stick putter like in the movie Happy Gilmore? (cause I think that would be funny)...and finally do you have any pet peeves?

Shatter some more glass for me and good luck with the rest of the season!

Hey Alex! Do you ever get annoyed by people who compare you to Crosby or Malkin or ask you who the better player is? I am a huge CAPS and PENS fan and i think all three of you are amazing and fun to watch and all bring a different skill to the game! (the problem is who to cheer for when you play each other....i think all of you should be on the same team cause that would kick ass!....looking forward to Dec. 11...) but thank you for coming to DC and bringing the excitement back to hockey!

Alexander Ovechkin,

I have a question that bothers me from time to time. Sometimes I can find the back of the net with ease and sometimes I cant. You have a natural scoring ability and almost always manage to score.

What I ask is, is this through practising scoring/shooting all the time or is it a natural ability you just have?

Would be greatful for a reply and help me out.

Thanks,
