Quick Spurts

from Jason Kay of the Hockey News,

Summertime. Attention span short. Too many distractions…umm…outside window. Here’s blog, in spurts:

For the second consecutive summer, the Nashville Predators have an ownership mess, underscored by a dearth of activity in free agency (as in zero this year).

While GM David Poile, head coach Barry Trotz and their staffs deserve heaps of credit for prevailing under difficult circumstances, the constant franchise turmoil is unseemly and telling.

While there is a faction of concentrated, good fans in the region, NHL hockey still isn’t working in Music City.

more spurts…

Yes the Del Biaggio situation is a mess, but the rest of the local ownership group is covering his reserve guarantee to the city of Nashville, and is aiming to buy out his ownership share as it goes through bankruptcy.

And secondly, I’d call locking up potential free agents David Legwand, Martin Erat, J.P. Dumont, Jordin Tootoo, Ryan Suter, Shea Weber and Dan Ellis to contract extensions quite a bit of “free agent activity”, belying the implication that the front office is too feeble to assemble a competitive roster.

If its summer, then its time for hockey isnt working in Nashville stories from The Hockey News. This will never end. Dont let facts get in the way of your bashing Nashville story, Mr. Kay.
