Quincey Claimed By Kings

from Bruce MacLeod of Red Wings Corner,
Defenseman Kyle Quincey was claimed off waivers by the Los Angeles Kings, today. General manager Ken Holland said that the Red Wings don’t have immediate plans to add a player to their roster. Without Quincey, the Wings still don’t have enough cap room to fit a higher salaried played like Jonathan Ericsson or Ville Leino under the cap. There is enough room, however, for Darren McCarty, who practiced for the first time today since being sidelined with a groin strain.

Geez, the Wings/Griffs are like the Kings’ new feeder teams…

Really. They should at least have to pay a finder’s fee.
On the other hand...over the past several years, trades and waiver claims involving the Wings and Kings have netted us Mathieu Schneider and Brad Stuart, while L.A. has received Sean Avery, Max Kuznetsov, Jeff Tambellini (1st round pick now trying to break through with NYI), Matt Ellis, and now Kyle Quincey. With Ellis recently claimed by Buffalo, I’d say the Wings are definitely still ahead. (Marcel Dionne and Rogie Vachon don’t count anymore.)

Wish him better lick out there that Matty Ellis had....
With Jack Johnson out awhile they need the help on the back end too.

Good luck, Kyle! You’re going to find an awful lot of playing time in LA.
