from the Windsor Star,
Though he hasn’t been the point producer Schneider has been in his career, Rafalski has been a steady 50-point man on a New Jersey team that wasn’t noted as an offensive juggernaut.
“It’s a big difference,” Rafalski said. “You have more freedom to jump up, join the plays. I like it.
“It’s like going back to how I played in Europe. It’s going to take me a while to get back in that mode.”

I admit to knowing next to nothing about Rafalski except for reading his player bio. Everyone, and their dog, expects Rafalski to be a defensive upgrade in place of Schneider, and likely post lesser offensive numbers. My opinion, based on reading numerous columns, as well as observing St. Nick’s partners over 15 yrs., is that Rafalski will more than likely post career numbers. Hells Bells, pair me with St. Nick, and I’d probably be a plus player with oodles of assists. Rafalski came to Detroit at a “hometown discount”, clearly indicating he “wants to play”. He’ll have a terrific year.
