Rangers Dealing With Cap Issues

from Larry Brooks of the NY Post,

The Blueshirts currently have only five healthy defensemen on the roster after sending Bobby Sanguinetti back to Hartford on Tuesday. Adding waiver acquisition Erik Christensen’s $850,000 cap hit to the roster (plus an additional $125,000 hit that represents the difference between recalled goaltender Chad Johnson and the waived Steve Valiquette) has actually pushed the Rangers over the cap and into the position where they are borrowing from next season’s bonus cushion.

It appears as though the Rangers may have to place Brandon Dubinsky, who will miss his 10th game on Saturday since sustaining a broken hand on Nov. 7, on retroactive LTI in order to clear space to promote a D from the AHL.
