Rangers Target Key Penguins

from Larry Brooks of the NY Post,

The Rangers sure played with Pittsburgh. There wasn’t a player who turned away from the opportunity to get a piece of Sidney Crosby or Evgeni Malkin, with Colton Orr, Marc Staal, Blair Betts, Paul Mara and Ryan Callahan most notable. Crosby whined on the ice after Orr caught him legally in the first, then whined in the locker room.

“I don’t know if that’s what [Orr] needed to do to prove his toughness - to come after me,” Crosby said expressing a thought so preposterous that he might face suspension by the NHL language police.

Uh, no, Orr did not need to prove his toughness, but the Rangers believed that they needed to prove their worth against an elite opponent.

Wait…  are you saying Sidney Crosby is a whiny, spoiled little child?

NO WAY!  The fact that he does nothing but whine and complain on the ice NEVER would have led me to that conclusion on my own!!!

Has anyone ever seen the Rangers win a game in regulation…? Didn’t think so…I don’t see the Rangers as a “tough” team but if that’s the way they are gonna play they are going to have problems with Boston big time….

dont get me wrong, boston and pittsburgh are having great seasons… but what are the rangers’ records now against these two teams?? and dont give me this “ohh.. you can’t win the stanley cup by winning in the shootout” bullshit.
rangers aren’t a tough team but i think they have proved that they can play tough. their ability to adapt to each game is why they lead the division.
they probably didnt have any business to win this game, but gradually the rangers broke the pens down, which allowed them to tie and win the game in the last 5 minutes… same thing happened in the boston game… way to clutch up a play a full 60 bruins and pens… that can’t possibly win you a cup, could it?

I’m just saying….SO wins mean nothing. Alot of guys score in SO who would never be on the ice in a critical situation. Skill guys win SOs but it doesn’t necessarily work that way in the playoffs.

And the playing tough just worked so remarkably well. Sid and Malkin were flying out there, ask anyone who watched the game and they will tell you that without King Henrik in goal it would have been about 6-2.
If that was playing physical, than what do you call a pens flyers game?

And since when is Sid insulting Orr’s manliness whining? Also, Therrien was flipping out about the 4 minute penalty, not Orr hitting sid.  And Orr hitting sid worked out so well that Sid sat there crying for the entire penalty kil… oh wait never mind. Sid got right back in there and set up Mark Eaton (who hasn’t had a goal in like 3 years).
