Rene Bourque Upset With Perceived Reputation

from Randy Sportak of the Calgary Sun,

It’s a reputation Bourque hasn’t shaken, and that took a further hit this weekend when Hockey Night in Canada’s Kelly Hrudey fired pointed shots at the Flames winger.

“His passion meter — it’s not low on a scale from 1 to 10. It’s turned off,” Hrudey said. “This guy has to learn that you actually have to have passion in a game.”

Hrudey added: “I don’t think he cares about the game. He should apologize to his teammates and start playing. He’s got 66 games to go to actually care.”

Bourque, who has been held without a point in the past eight games and just two goals — one an empty-netter he didn’t actually put into the goal — in the past 13 outings, heard all about it.

“I definitely wasn’t happy about it,” said the 29-year-old Lac La Biche product after Monday’s practice. “I guess everybody’s entitled to their opinion, but I definitely don’t agree with the things he said.
