from Brendan Savage of the Flint Journal,
With all the distractions of daily life — especially for an athlete who has a spouse and kids — it isn’t difficult to get sidetracked during a long season and lose focus on the task at hand.
With that in mind, the Flint Generals have hired Flint’s John Tomlinson as their hypnotherapist in an effort to gain an advantage on the other five teams in the International Hockey League.
Tomlinson, who said he’s been hypnotizing people for 33 years and has owned Tomlinson Hypnotherapy in Swartz Creek since 2006, believes he can help the Generals get the most out of their abilities.
“When the dog days are upon them in January and February and the season is dragging on, we want to keep their spirits up and make sure they’re moving forward and not let them sag down into a funk that makes their play less than it could be,” Tomlinson said.
