The Capitals declined to comment on whether Nicklas Backstrom would miss time with what the team’s No. 1 center told a Swedish news outlet was a fractured thumb after he was slashed by Pittsburgh’s Kris Letang on Monday night.

yea, backstrom can be dirty for sure. I have no idea how the refs let him swing a punch at a guys head for a clean check into the boards.
