Fedorov and Kozlov are/were UFA’s and on the downside of their career. The fact that they choose to play in their homeland isn’t that surprising. According to rumour Fedorov has been offered $3.8 million a year, which is less than he made this year in Washington but probably more than they would be willing to offer him for an extension.
I doubt that Semin is going anywhere.

I dont expect Semin to move either…i still wouldn’t be surprised thogh. I can’t seem to remember but didnt they have to sue him to play? or was that more to do wtih him not wanting to report to AHL??

If they get some teams in Sweden, could this become a problem for the NHL?

Caps lose Kozlov? I didn’t think they even gave a second thought about bringing him back, buy out Nylander and they have improved there ability to sign a shut down defensemen. Even Fedorov would only be a consideration only at the right price.

Kozlov and Fedorov are both UFAs. The bottom line is if they go where the money is, they won’t be Caps next season.

The reason I used Caps in the headline is he is still property of the Caps.
I know there was talk of only signing one, either Feds or Kozlov, now it looks like they both may be gone.

Fine by me. We weren’t going to have enough money to re-sign Fedorov anyway.
The word “Kozlov” is Russian for “offensive zone turnover.”
The loss of two players does not greatly hinder Washington’s efforts to move forward next season.

Fedorov, now Kozlov…guaranteed Semin is next. I guess sitting back and watching the “greatest player in the world” float, hog the puck, stay on for 1-2minute shifts, and totally spit in the face of everything that makes hockey a team sport was enough for these players. That and the fact that they’re going to be getting paid twice as much in Russia…
