via Chris Kuc of Icing at the Chicago Tribune,
According to a source, the Blackhawks will announce later Monday the signings of restricted free agents Ben Eager, Troy Brouwer and Colin Fraser to contracts.
The forwards are believed to be among the number of players who didn’t receive their qualifying offers by the June 29 deadline.

The sound you hear is the sweeping of Chicago’s RFA controversy under the rug.
Interesting that they didn’t sign the two biggest “names” among the RFAs though…
And, I don’t think these can be voided. Whether they were RFAs or UFAs (which they be Chicago’s punishment), they still chose to sign a contract.

The qualifying offers (which were not recieved) were not contracts, but were only a way for the team to indicate that it wished to retain rights to the players as RFAs. Without qualifying offers, the players would have been considered UFA and could sign with any team with no compensation to the Blackhawks.
Regardless of any confusion over their status, once they sign a valid contract they aren’t on the market anymore, either as UFA or as RFA eligible to entertain offer sheets or anything. They are contracted to the Blackhawks, and the previous confusion is irrelevant (except for purposes of chuckling at someone so traditional that he would use regular snail mail still).

Still, I have to ask, how can they sign if they never received offers?
And, on a more serious note…could these contracts be voided if the NHLPA files a grievance (which obviously seems less likely with each tick of the clock)?
