Khabibulin Comes to Agreement with Oilers

According to Bob McKenzie on TSN, Nikolai Khabibulin has come to a “tentative agreement” with Edmonton Oilers, to be announced soon.
Update 4:11pm ET: TSN reports the deal is done, 4 years, $15 million.
Nikolai Khabibulin is the latest big name off the board in free agency, as the veteran netminder has signed a multi-year contract with the Edmonton Oilers.

It’ll be interesting to see how Khabibulin will fare on the fastest ice in the league.

I think realistically if they thought they could sign Khaby, the Hawks would have had to trade away Huet and have a contract in place before today.
Good signing for the Oilers, he’s going to be GREAT in the fourth year of his contract…

... I really am running out of adjectives to describe some of these signings. I mean, the Thesaurus only lists so many for “incomprehensible”...
If the Edmonton Oilers were the NBA their campaign would be “EDMONTON OILERS: Where desperation happens!”.

Let me get this straight. Khabibulin for only 3.75? Something tells me the Oilers may have something up their sleeves

I dont know what to say. Still sad about rolies departure. Hopefully he wont ask out after a season.

bslaamon, I would imagine it is front-loaded and he was probably very happy to get a contract that takes him all the way to age 40.
